About The Position

We’re looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join one of our cross-functional squads at Shakepay. You’ll work closely with engineering and design, while also partnering across marketing, finance, and operations to help us identify growth opportunities and make smarter decisions across the business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, enjoys operating with high autonomy, and can turn ambiguous problems into measurable impact. You’ll combine experimentation, statistical rigor, business intuition, and product thinking to influence how we grow, retain, and better serve millions of Canadians.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in data science, growth analytics, experimentation, or related roles in high-growth environments
Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
Deep understanding of experimentation, causal inference, statistical analysis, forecasting, and KPI design
Strong product and business intuition, with the ability to connect user behavior to company outcomes
Experience working cross-functionally with teams such as marketing, finance, operations, or product
Comfortable operating autonomously and driving ambiguous projects from idea to execution
Strong communication skills and the ability to influence decisions through data and clear reasoning
A demonstrated ability to manage and deliver on multiple projects with high attention to detail
Curiosity, speed, and a bias toward action in fast-moving environments
Solid understanding of dashboarding and data visualization tools
Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
Fluency in English is required

Nice To Haves

Experience in startup or high-growth consumer environments
Experience with experimentation and product analytics platforms such as Posthog, Statsig, Amplitude
Experience working with dbt, Snowflake, and modern data stacks
Experience with lifecycle marketing, customer segmentation, or growth modeling
Existing Shakepay customer and/or familiarity with the product
Interest and enthusiasm for the possibilities enabled by Bitcoin and non-sovereign money

Responsibilities

Partner closely with engineers and designers across our product squads to improve acquisition, activation, retention, monetization, and customer experience
Collaborate with marketing, finance, and operations teams to uncover growth opportunities and drive better business decisions
Champion and evangelize experimentation and decision frameworks that help us ship and iterate quickly with confidence
Define KPIs and success metrics that help teams stay aligned around measurable outcomes
Use statistical analysis, forecasting, causal inference, and machine learning techniques to better understand user behavior and business performance
Identify high-leverage opportunities proactively through deep analysis of user journeys, lifecycle behavior, conversion funnels, and financial performance
Help shape squad and company priorities by bringing data-informed perspectives on impact, tradeoffs, and ROI
Build dashboards, models, and self-serve tools that improve visibility into growth and business performance across the organization
Collaborate with the broader data team to maintain a shared and consistent data layer that serves our stakeholders and internal agents
Foster a culture of experimentation, curiosity, and evidence-based decision-making across Shakepay
