About The Position

The Senior Data Product Owner will be responsible for defining and owning the data product vision, strategy, and roadmap, aligning with business objectives. This role involves identifying opportunities for new or enhanced data products, prioritizing the product backlog, and acting as the primary liaison between business units and data engineering/analytics teams. The position requires driving Agile ceremonies, championing data quality standards, and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data concepts, proficiency in SQL, experience with cloud data platforms, and a proven track record of delivering data products at scale.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in product management, data product ownership, or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of data concepts: data modeling, data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines, and BI tools.
  • Proficiency with SQL and experience interpreting complex datasets to drive decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Google BigQuery, or AWS Redshift.
  • Proven track record of delivering data products at scale that deliver measurable business value.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data mesh, data lakehouse, or federated data architectures.
  • Familiarity with data observability tools such as Monte Carlo, Soda, or Great Expectations.
  • Background in machine learning product development or MLOps workflows.
  • Certifications such as CSPO, PMP, or relevant cloud certifications (AWS/GCP/Azure).
  • Experience in a regulated industry (Financial Services, Healthcare, or Retail).

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the data product vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap aligned with business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to create new data products or enhance existing ones based on stakeholder needs and market trends.
  • Prioritize product backlog and features using data-driven frameworks.
  • Act as the primary liaison between business units (Finance, Marketing, Operations, etc.) and data engineering/analytics teams.
  • Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, and regular reviews to align stakeholders on requirements and progress.
  • Communicate product updates, metrics, and outcomes clearly to executive leadership.
  • Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and data requirements documentation.
  • Partner with data engineers, analysts, and architects to deliver reliable, well-documented data pipelines and datasets.
  • Drive Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
  • Champion data quality standards, metadata management, and data catalog adoption across the organization.
  • Collaborate with data governance teams to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA).
  • Define and monitor key data quality KPIs and SLAs for all owned data products.
