Senior Data Engineer - Microsoft Fabric

Aspenview Technology Partners

About The Position

AspenView Technology Partners is seeking a Senior Fabric Engineer to support a modernization initiative transitioning an established data integration estate to Microsoft Fabric and Fabric Link. The role designs and implements scalable data pipelines that integrate ERP systems (Dynamics 365 and Dynamics AX), financial systems, sales and marketing sources, and external APIs. The resulting trusted, unified data supports enterprise reporting, analytics, and operational insight in Power BI. This is a contributor role with direct access to stakeholders and an opportunity to shape the target architecture. The engineer is expected to question whether the right solutions are being built, surface risks and ambiguity early, and improve practices beyond assigned work. The work includes developing and modernizing ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration, integrating structured and unstructured data, designing Power BI and Fabric semantic models, implementing data quality and governance processes, tuning SQL Server and Fabric workloads, and troubleshooting pipeline failures. The engineer collaborates with reporting analysts, business stakeholders, data scientists, and application engineering teams to deliver analytics-ready datasets and unified views across business domains.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of data engineering experience, including production implementation in an Agile environment.
  • Microsoft Fabric experience, including Fabric Link, OneLake lakehouse concepts, and medallion architecture patterns.
  • Experience with ERP and B2B transaction datasets, specifically Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Dynamics AX.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, partitioning, and data quality approaches.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory pipelines, triggers, and integration runtimes.
  • SQL Server and T-SQL experience, including stored procedures, optimization, and replication.
  • SSIS package development and modernization experience.
  • Experience with REST API and JSON integrations for ingestion and synchronization.
  • Power BI data modeling experience, including datasets, DAX, and semantic layers.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipeline deployment.
  • Experience with Python or .NET for automation and integration tasks.
  • Applicants must be permanently authorized to work in their country of residence and must not require employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with marketing automation data domains and campaign analytics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent practical experience is also accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Build, optimize, and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and Azure Functions.
  • Migrate pipelines and orchestration layers toward Microsoft Fabric, Fabric Link, and OneLake.
  • Integrate structured and unstructured sources, including SaaS APIs, Dynamics 365, Dynamics AX, marketing and sales platforms, and financial systems.
  • Design and validate semantic models for Power BI and Fabric-based reporting.
  • Implement data quality, lineage, metadata, and governance processes aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Performance-tune SQL Server databases and Fabric workloads.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures and proactively improve resiliency and observability.
  • Partner with reporting analysts, business stakeholders, data scientists, and application engineering teams to deliver well-structured, analytics-ready datasets.
  • Support cross-functional projects that link sales, marketing, and financial data into unified business views.
  • Question existing processes, data models, and reporting standards before extending them; surface risks and weak requirements early; propose better approaches and strengthen team practices.
