YES CommunitiesDenver, CO
$145,000 - $155,000Onsite

About The Position

YES Communities is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own and evolve the enterprise data platform that powers reporting, analytics, planning, and automation across the company. The role involves building scalable pipelines, integrations, and data models that transform operational data into trusted data used throughout the organization. As a key member of the team, the Senior Data Engineer will help shape the future of the data platform by influencing architecture decisions and modernizing core data infrastructure. The work will support operational teams, executives, and institutional investors, and will involve close partnership with BI, FP&A, IT, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable data solutions that drive better business decisions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience designing and maintaining production ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Advanced SQL skills, including complex query development, performance tuning, and working with large relational datasets in SQL Server or a comparable database platform
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with various business stakeholders and guiding technical peers to appropriate solutions
  • Experience building and orchestrating pipelines with Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or similar integration tools
  • Experience developing data models, views, and semantic layers that serve enterprise reporting and analytics
  • Working knowledge of API-based integrations with third-party systems and vendor platforms
  • Proficiency with version control and engineering best practices, including code review, testing, and documentation
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions for non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and SQL Server to integrate operational data into the enterprise data warehouse
  • Develop and optimize enterprise data models, views, and semantic layers that serve as the trusted source of truth for reporting and analytics, including modernizing legacy stored procedure logic into more maintainable structures
  • Engineer and maintain API integrations with third-party platforms and vendor systems
  • Monitor pipeline health and data quality by implementing automated validation, reconciliation, and alerting so issues are caught before they reach the business
  • Tune query and pipeline performance, and recommend architectural improvements as data volumes and business needs grow
  • Champion engineering best practices across the team — version control, code review, testing, and documentation — and contribute to data governance through metadata management, lineage, and metric definition
  • Partner with BI developers, analysts, FP&A, IT, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into well-modeled, high-performing data solutions
  • Deliver accurate, timely data that supports recurring operational, financial, executive, and investor reporting
  • Evaluate and adopt modern data engineering technologies, including AI-assisted development tools, where they improve engineering quality, productivity, or platform reliability

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Comprehensive health benefits
  • Life, long and short-term disability insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
