About The Position

Daiwa Capital Markets America Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its Application Development team. The role owns the path from source systems to trusted, reportable data, including Microsoft SQL Server development, enterprise ETL, a layered data warehouse on Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI semantic models. The data supports critical finance, treasury, regulatory reporting, and operational processes. This is a hands-on engineering position responsible for keeping established Informatica PowerCenter and SQL Server production processes reliable while incrementally building their successor on Microsoft Fabric with a Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion architecture. The role also develops semantic models and data entitlement rules that govern what users may see. In the first year, the engineer will take ownership of core Finance and Operations Informatica workflows and supporting SQL Server processes; stabilize and simplify inherited workflows; establish warehouse standards; deliver initial Fabric data products for Finance and later other domains; build and certify reusable Power BI semantic models with documented entitlement rules; and introduce source control, deployment pipelines, and operational runbooks. Application Development is responsible for custom development across DCMA. The team is described as collaborative, supportive, and solution focused, and the role involves working directly with the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of data engineering, data integration, or database development experience, including significant hands-on Microsoft SQL Server and production ETL or ELT work.
  • Hands-on experience delivering a cloud data warehouse or lakehouse and the semantic models built on it.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production environments in a regulated or tightly controlled setting.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including schema design, stored procedures, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Experience developing ETL or ELT on an enterprise platform; accepted tools include Informatica Cloud (IDMC), Microsoft Fabric Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, or Azure Data Factory.
  • Experience with data warehouse engineering, dimensional modeling, and medallion layering on Microsoft Fabric; Snowflake or a comparable cloud data warehouse is an alternative.
  • Power BI semantic model development experience, including DAX, Direct Lake, and row-level security for data entitlement.
  • Working-level Python for data engineering tasks.
  • Ability to maintain production processes while incrementally migrating to a modern Microsoft data platform.

Nice To Haves

  • Azure SQL experience.
  • Informatica Cloud (IDMC) experience is preferred.
  • Informatica PowerCenter experience is a strong advantage.
  • Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer (DP-700) or Fabric Analytics Engineer (DP-600) certification.
  • Financial services and capital markets experience, particularly treasury operations, liquidity management, and regulatory reporting.
  • ERP integration experience.
  • Experience with cloud or data platform migration programs.
  • Comfort working alongside Fabric and Copilot-based AI solutions delivered by other teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server schemas, stored procedures, functions, views, and complex queries.
  • Own database design, indexing strategy, query tuning, and performance of high-volume data processes.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize enterprise ETL and ELT workflows and integrations across internal and vendor data sources.
  • Support and rationalize the existing Informatica PowerCenter estate while developing integrations on the target platform.
  • Design and build an analytical data warehouse using Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion layers.
  • Apply dimensional modeling and star schema design to produce curated, reusable data products.
  • Develop, tune, and certify Power BI semantic models on the Gold layer, including DAX, Direct Lake, row-level security, and data entitlement rules.
  • Partner with report authors to keep the reporting layer consistent and performant.
  • Implement data validation, reconciliation, and quality controls across pipelines.
  • Monitor production jobs, troubleshoot failures, and perform root cause analysis to maintain reliable data operations.
  • Apply Git version control, CI/CD, and deployment pipelines to data assets.
  • Follow change and release management standards and maintain technical documentation, data lineage, and operational support runbooks.
  • Assume ownership of core Finance and Operations Informatica workflows and supporting SQL Server processes, while enabling other engineers to serve as production-support backups.
  • Stabilize and simplify inherited workflows to improve reliability, runtime, and maintainability.
  • Deliver initial production data products on Microsoft Fabric, beginning with Finance and expanding across the business over time.
