About The Position

Docplanner is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Data Platform Team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure, data pipelines, and tooling that support data analysts, engineers, and product teams. The role is for someone experienced in building and operating data platforms at scale, who wants end-to-end ownership of problems. The Senior Data Engineer will be a technical leader, designing and building systems for data ingestion, transformation, and serving, while also mentoring other engineers. The platform includes ingestion from various sources, orchestration, a cloud data warehouse, transformation layers, and underlying infrastructure. The role requires hands-on engineering with ownership of shipping, operating, and shaping the platform's roadmap.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience building and operating production data platforms (data warehousing, data lakes, orchestration, and ingestion)
  • Experience with event streaming
  • Strong Python and SQL skills with solid software engineering practices (testing, CI/CD, code review)
  • Deep experience with an orchestrator (e.g., Airflow), including running, scaling, and debugging
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and cloud data warehouses
  • Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (deploying, inspecting, and debugging workloads)
  • Experience designing for failure (idempotency, backfills, data quality checks, monitoring)
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical trade-offs to different audiences
  • Proactive and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
  • Excitement about AI tools for automating operational work
  • Experience with streaming and message-driven architectures (RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar)
  • Must be based in Poland
  • Very good English communication skills, both spoken and written

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Kubernetes operations, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Docker optimization, and CI/CD
  • Experience enabling different product areas in using the data platform, including ingestion, modeling through dbt, and serving data
  • Big data tooling (Spark)
  • Experience operationalizing ML models

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines across many source systems
  • Lead architectural decisions on the platform and write proposals for adoption
  • Improve the reliability, observability, and cost-efficiency of the platform
  • Develop infrastructure in close cooperation with Platform engineers
  • Work alongside analytics engineers, analysts, and data consumers to improve the data experience
  • Mentor other data engineers through code review, pairing, and design feedback
  • Drive automation and AI-assisted operations
  • Interact daily with other teams to turn ambiguous data problems into shipped solutions
