About The Position

Wealth.com is hiring its first dedicated Senior Data Engineer to own and build its data platform. The role is responsible for the AWS data infrastructure, dbt project, Redshift warehouse, pipelines, and Airflow environment. The engineer will establish and improve the platform rather than inherit a mature, fully staffed data function, working with analysts, engineers, Platform engineers, and internal stakeholders to make data reliable and useful. The work combines building new pipelines, hardening existing ones, and translating business questions into systems that answer them. The company is moving onto Airflow, and this role will help complete that transition. Over time, the engineer is expected to make the platform more reliable, better documented, and easier to build on, while setting a direction for its future architecture.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related role.
  • At least 2 years of experience at a company operating at meaningful scale.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills, including Python for data processing and pipeline work.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt and orchestrating production pipelines using Airflow or a similar tool.
  • Working knowledge of AWS and a cloud data warehouse.
  • Good instincts for warehouse and system design.
  • Ability to turn stakeholder requirements into code and systems and clearly explain decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience moving pipelines onto Airflow or a similar orchestrator.
  • Experience in fintech, wealth management, or another regulated environment, including compliance, audit, or PII handling.
  • Experience with document processing or AI/ML data pipelines.
  • Experience seeing how a well-run data organization operates at a more mature, scaled company.

Responsibilities

  • Design, operate, and improve the data platform, including pipelines, Airflow, dbt, and the Redshift warehouse.
  • Investigate pipeline failures and incorrect data, identify root causes, and prevent recurring issues.
  • Ingest data from multiple sources, clean and model it, and make it accessible for others to use.
  • Contribute to data architecture decisions involving warehouse design, scalability, and cost, and document the rationale for decisions.
  • Coordinate with Platform engineers on upstream data model changes and represent data and analytics needs in engineering decisions.
  • Build new pipelines and improve the reliability of existing pipelines.
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business questions and requirements into code and systems.
  • Help carry through the migration to Airflow.
  • Take day-to-day ownership of pipelines and dbt and respond to data infrastructure questions.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance options with low-cost premium structures.
  • Company-paid basic life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability.
  • Paid parental leave upon eligibility.
  • Company equity managed through Carta.
  • 401(k) with company match and 100% vesting upon hire.
  • Flexible PTO.
  • Paid holidays, including time off for employees' birthdays.
  • Free estate planning for life.
