About The Position

Drata is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join its growing data team. This role will support one of the fastest-growing B2B SaaS startups in achieving unicorn status. The data engineer will be instrumental in strategizing and executing the company's data engineering vision, focusing on building data products at scale. The data department is composed of Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Data Analysts, and Data Scientists, aiming to enable self-service data access for all teams to drive projects and decision-making. The role involves working with cutting-edge technologies for data collection, storage, transformation, analysis, and modeling in a fast-moving environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  • Fluent in writing analytical SQL, including complex queries without assistance, and understanding performant SQL.
  • Fluent in Python.
  • Experience with platforms such as Stitch/Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Airbyte, Looker/Mode/Sigma, Hightouch/Cencus.
  • Clear, concise communication skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to explain complex data flows, datasets, or queries to non-technical individuals.
  • Natural curiosity and investigative mindset.
  • Desire to work in a fast, high-growth startup environment, thriving on both autonomy and collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with building ML pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Automate data processes as a core company value.
  • Build data products to serve analytics needs, product and engineering services, and ML models.
  • Optimize query performance, data ingestion, and processing time.
  • Contribute to building the data modeling layer.
  • Establish strong data governance processes.
  • Develop data engineering training and documentation for analysts.
  • Interview, hire, and train future data engineers.
  • Administer data orchestration using modern tools and concepts like ETL, ELT, and Reverse ETL.
