About The Position

The Digital & Data team represents an internal effort to digitally transform and fundamentally revolutionize every corner of Black and Veatch. Our goal is to accelerate Black and Veatch’s technology and propel our company into the next century of digital & data capabilities and success. Our team will be the embedded catalyst functioning as thought leaders within each one of our business units helping to provide technological guidance to provide strategic and impactful initiatives. Our team is a unique mix of top tier Data Scientists, Engineers, Developers, Strategists, and positively disruptive technology enthusiasts. We are looking for an experienced, talented, and motivated Senior Data Engineer with significant experience in Agile Methodology, ETL, Data Automation, Job Monitoring, Data Infrastructure, & Data Architecture. We would like you to be a key member of a strategic, skilled, results-oriented team of technology professionals. The role involves broad responsibility for maintaining, building, and enhancing Data Engineering and the Data Development Lifecycle for different areas of Black and Veatch. Duties include monitoring, optimization, automation, data maintenance, and support. The Senior Data Engineer should be an experienced technologist experienced in working with large and small volumes of data with hands-on data development and a deep understanding of the Data lifecycle.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or other Quantitative or Technology field.
  • Be proficient with SQL(Oracle, Microsoft, Postgres, etc…)
  • Experience developing ETL solutions using Python(or other scripting language)
  • Familiarity with code management using Git or similar technology
  • Understand the Data Lifecyle
  • Demonstrated knowledge of one of these cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related field OR equivalent work experience
  • In addition to the education requirements, ten years related experience.

  • Server and Network troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with development teams to integrate their projects into production.
  • Be an Agile champion - work closely with other internal teams to proliferate Agile ideals.
  • Dive deep into the Data Infrastructure and ETL to troubleshoot as needed.
  • Build engineering automation and productivity tools to streamline and scale applications in the production environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data development, deployment and operations.
