About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking a Senior Data Engineer and Data Engineer to design, build, maintain, and optimize data solutions for analytics, reporting, and decision-making. This role involves close collaboration with Data Product Owners, business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to develop scalable data pipelines, support data integration, and ensure the reliability and performance of enterprise data assets. Responsibilities include designing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes, ingesting data from various sources, transforming and validating data, and developing efficient SQL queries. The role supports data product backlog items, troubleshoots data quality and performance issues, and contributes to cloud-based data warehouse solutions. Senior Data Engineers may lead complex initiatives, optimize performance, mentor junior members, and drive best practices in data architecture and modeling. The ideal candidate is analytical, quality-focused, and collaborative, aiming to deliver scalable and reliable data solutions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant experience (Data Engineer)
  • 5+ years of data engineering experience (Senior Data Engineer)
  • Understanding of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, including star and snowflake schemas.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or TFS.
  • Understanding of data modeling principles.
  • Exposure to ETL tools such as Talend, Informatica, or SSIS.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, and database table design.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Shell scripting.
  • Extensive experience with Talend ETL (Senior Data Engineer).
  • Advanced SQL skills, including: Stored procedures, Database and table design, Query optimization, ETL performance tuning (Senior Data Engineer).
  • Strong experience with Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse (Senior Data Engineer).
  • Proficient in SQL for data manipulation, transformation, and querying within Snowflake (Senior Data Engineer).
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Shell scripting (Senior Data Engineer).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify patterns and resolve data quality issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong focus on quality, accountability, flexibility, and achievement of results.

Responsibilities

  • Implement features and enhancements from the data product backlog.
  • Partner with Data Product Owners and business stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements.
  • Assist in building and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Support data ingestion from APIs, relational databases, and flat files.
  • Clean, transform, and validate data to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries for reporting and data extraction.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and data scientists to meet analytical requirements.
  • Monitor data workflows and troubleshoot data pipeline issues.
  • Maintain documentation for data processes and technical solutions.
  • Follow data engineering best practices and standards.
  • Learn from and collaborate with senior engineers on enterprise initiatives.
  • Perform ad hoc data analysis and queries to support business needs.
  • Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT solutions and enterprise data pipelines.
  • Build and optimize data integration processes using Talend and related technologies.
  • Design efficient database structures and implement data modeling best practices.
  • Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data loading performance.
  • Develop and maintain Snowflake cloud data warehouse solutions.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to define data requirements and solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data quality and performance issues.
  • Support modernization initiatives involving cloud technologies and data platforms.

  • Ensure data reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
