Peraton is seeking a Senior Data & Communications Systems Engineer to work onsite at the Stennis Space Center. The Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (COMNAVMETOCCOM / CNMOC) is beginning the procurement, testing, and evaluation of the Persistent Subsea Autonomous Profiler (PSAP) autonomous, thermal-energy-harvesting platforms to collect critical, real-time oceanographic and acoustic data. The role involves providing technical coordination, communications systems engineering, and data pipeline implementation. Responsibilities include implementing secure data pathways, configuring direct satellite communications pipelines (including Iridium EMSS SBD/RUDICS), establishing secure bi-directional Command and Control (C2) interfaces, and ensuring rapid, automated data dissemination to downstream defense systems. This requires hands-on Data and Communications systems engineering to build, deploy, and secure data pathing and C2 systems for the PSAP platform. The engineer will coordinate with the vehicle vendor to utilize their data API, design and deploy data pipelines to ingest telemetry and sensor data, transform and load this data into METOC and USW systems, and establish downstream dissemination pathways to Maven Smart Systems (MSS) and the Undersea Warfare command and control systems. The work involves establishing data pipelines that streamline information exchange on complex legacy networks, configuring secure satellite communication, and implementing the secure, bi-directional telemetry architecture required for active float management and reverse commanding.
