  • Ability to assess mechanical infrastructure condition, operation, and maintenance, and analyze system designs for reliability risks and energy optimization opportunities.
  • Ability to collect and analyze mechanical equipment data and perform engineering calculations related to cooling capacity, power, kVA, power factor, and energy performance.
  • Knowledge of mission-critical mechanical system best practices, redundancy classifications, reliability principles, and safe work practices.
  • Ability to develop operations staffing plans and evaluate building monitoring and control systems, operational processes, maintenance practices, documentation, and physical security systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mission-critical systems including EPO, VESDA, FM-200, Ansul, sprinkler and pre-action systems, and physical security technologies.
  • Understanding of data center redundancy requirements and Tier levels.
  • Ability to evaluate facility loading requirements, contribute to conceptual planning, and provide ROM estimates with approximately +/- 30% accuracy.
  • Project leadership, client management, presentation, and professional writing skills, including the ability to communicate with senior client executives.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and computer skills; ability to use Microsoft Office applications and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to travel as required; travel averages 25%–50%, with occasional sustained travel, including for global projects.

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university; an engineering or computer science degree is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a background check prior to the offer letter.
  • U.S. passport and ability to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Support analysis of data center infrastructure for strategy development projects and due diligence.
  • Evaluate mission-critical electrical infrastructure, including power distribution, redundancy, reliability, capacity, operational performance, maintenance, and risk mitigation.
  • Evaluate mission-critical mechanical infrastructure, including cooling systems, redundancy, reliability, capacity, maintenance, energy performance, and opportunities to improve resilience and efficiency.
  • Develop maintenance staffing plans and define technical skill requirements for mission-critical facility operations.
  • Operate and evaluate building monitoring and control systems supporting critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
  • Assess facility condition, maintenance practices, documentation, fire detection and suppression systems, critical equipment records, operational processes, and security systems.
  • Identify single points of failure and infrastructure reliability risks, and develop practical, cost-effective mitigation recommendations.
  • Evaluate facilities and contribute to planning sessions and workshops.
  • Work with engineering and design colleagues on conceptual designs for infrastructure expansion or capacity changes.
  • Evaluate critical loading requirements for greenfield data center options and provide rough order of magnitude estimates for recommendations.
  • Present findings and interact with customers at all levels.
  • Manage and participate in major project delivery as client partner and project executive, overseeing project quality, client relationships, and forecast financial measures.
  • Use the group’s analytical tools and support analytical project needs.
