About The Position

The Senior Data Analyst, under the supervision of the Executive Director of Institutional Research, contributes to Prairie View A&M University's data-informed decision-making. The position collects, analyzes, interprets, and reports institutional data to support strategic planning, compliance reporting, and operational decisions. The analyst works with university departments to understand business needs, develop data solutions, ensure data accuracy and integrity, and provide actionable insights through reports, dashboards, and analytical studies. Salary is commensurate with education and experience within the position’s assigned salary range.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
Four years of related experience in data collection and analysis and using data management information systems.
Experience with word-processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in a related field.
Two or more years of progressively responsible experience in institutional research, higher education analytics, enrollment management, educational data reporting, or related data analysis functions within a college or university setting.
Experience with state, federal, or accreditation reporting requirements in higher education.
Advanced knowledge of SQL, relational database concepts, and querying and analyzing large datasets.
Experience developing reports, data visualizations, or analytical products for business decision-making.
Knowledge of data extraction, transformation, and integration processes, higher education data structures, reporting requirements, and institutional research principles.
Experience developing reports, dashboards, data visualizations, and analytical products using Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
Ability to analyze complex datasets, identify meaningful trends, patterns, and insights, and communicate technical concepts and analytical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while meeting deadlines; establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators; and ensure data accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical data use.

Responsibilities

Prepare and submit institutional data for required state, federal, university system, and accountability reports, including IPEDS, THECB, and Texas A&M University System reporting.
Coordinate responses to external surveys and ranking requests, including the Common Data Set and U.S. News & World Report.
Develop, maintain, and validate recurring and ad hoc reports, analyses, dashboards, and data visualizations for internal and external stakeholders.
Partner with academic and administrative units to understand business needs, clarify reporting and analytical requirements, and translate institutional data into actionable information.
Extract, transform, integrate, and analyze data from multiple institutional systems while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
Interpret and communicate analytical findings to varied audiences, providing context, methodology, and recommendations as appropriate.
Identify data quality issues and collaborate with data owners and campus partners to improve data accuracy and reliability.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of institutional data definitions, reporting standards, and data governance practices.
Support strategic planning, enrollment management, student success initiatives, accreditation efforts, and other university priorities through data analysis and research.
Stay current on emerging trends, reporting requirements, and best practices in institutional research, higher education analytics, and data management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
