About The Position

We are looking for Senior Analysts to join Canada Life’s Business Enablement, Data Analytics & Reporting team. We are currently hiring for multiple Senior Data Analyst roles and are seeking candidates with experience across one or more of the following skill sets: Senior BI Analyst – Core BI delivery focused on requirements, KPI definition, analysis, and Power BI reporting using curated datasets. Senior BI Specialist – End‑to‑end delivery specialists combining advanced Power BI development with strong data‑engineering capability, owning solutions from discovery through build, validation, and rollout. Senior Data Foundation Analyst – Data‑engineering–focused role responsible for building, enriching, and governing data pipelines and datasets that enable downstream BI and analytics. As a Senior Analyst you will join Canada Life’s Business Enablement, Data Analytics and Reporting team. In this role you will support all Canada Operations and Business Enablement teams with the ideation, development, implementation, and maintenance of analytics solutions ranging from descriptive and diagnostic to predictive. The Senior Analyst, Data & Analytics is a data subject matter expert enhancing decision making, monitoring business performance, providing actionable insight, and driving operational efficiencies using advanced analytics and statistical techniques. In this role, you will model, analyze, and predict complex business processes. You will translate business requirements into data, reporting, and analytics projects, which you will oversee and support throughout their entire lifecycle.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of relevant experience and a master’s degree in related field of study, or an equivalent combination of bachelor’s degree and extensive related experience
• Strong experience in working with data analytics tools (SQL, Python), Databases (SQL Server), Cloud (Azure, Databricks), data visualization tools (Power BI) with demonstrated experience at creating interactive dashboards
• Ability to write complex and efficient SQL and Python queries to extract, integrate and transform data from multiple sources and automate data pipelines
• Advanced skills in Power BI, Data Modeling, Power Query, and DAX
• Strong experience working with raw data and manipulating large datasets
• Subject matter expertise in data analytics and statistical modelling
• Polished communication and presentation skills to audiences including senior leadership
• Strong analytical skills for problem solving and to monetize value for the organization
• Ability to work with little to no documentation or instruction
• Think outside the box and identify solutions to overcome obstacles
• Proven ability to learn and handle multiple priorities in a challenging work environment
• Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website. The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.

Nice To Haves

• Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst (PL‑300) certification preferred
• Experience within the Financial Services sector would be an asset

Responsibilities

• Translate business needs into data requirements; collect, integrate, clean, model, and analyze large datasets; and visualize and present insights to business leaders
• Build, implement and maintain data models, custom reports, and dashboards
• Use Azure Databricks and advanced SQL to transform and model data, and Power BI to deliver governed, insight‑driven reporting and analytics solutions
• Work with large datasets that are not consistent, clean, or fully modelled
• Apply strong communication, influence, and strategic thinking to shape analytics solutions and drive business decisions
• Define, implement, and monitor metrics and KPIs and ensure ongoing strategic alignment with short and long-term business objectives
• Enable effective, efficient working relationships with business partners
• Work closely with senior leaders to understand business drivers and enable them to make decisions based on data
• Oversee and support projects throughout the entire analytics lifecycle
• Assist the business in the ideation of new analytics initiatives ranging from descriptive, diagnostic, predictive to prescriptive
• Present and communicate insights and recommendations in a visual and simplified manner
• Retrieve, integrate, and transform data from multiple systems using SQL, Python, and other scripting languages
