About The Position

Pennylane is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join their fast-growing Germany team. This role is crucial for building the analytics foundation of a high-growth business unit and directly shaping decision-making processes. The Senior Data Analyst will act as a data partner embedded in the Germany team, proactively using data to identify opportunities for product and business growth. They will collaborate with product squads and business teams, serving as a sparring partner for leaders, steering decision-making through rigorous analyses, and contributing to a self-service analytics approach. The role also involves contributing to data models in the data warehouse using dbt and shaping the Data Engineering roadmap.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Data Analyst, ideally in scale-up environments (5-6 years).
  • Seasoned working with SQL, dbt and data visualization tools.
  • Comfortable collaborating with Product and Engineering Managers, as well as Business partners, beyond the data team.
  • Strong business acumen and seen as a trusted partner by business stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills and capable of articulating ideas clearly.
  • Do-er attitude and comfortable with MVP approach.
  • Fluent in English.

Nice To Haves

  • German language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the data partner embedded in the Germany team.
  • Proactively use data to identify opportunities to grow the product and business.
  • Work across both product squads and business teams (CS, AMs, Ops).
  • Serve as a sparring partner for Product and Business leaders in Germany, feeding their strategy by anticipating the most important questions.
  • Leverage analytical and statistical skills to answer key questions.
  • Steer decision-making through rigorous analyses, navigating ambiguity and collaborating across domains.
  • Contribute to the self-service approach to analytics by understanding partners' needs and promoting a data-driven culture.
  • Contribute directly to data models in the data warehouse (using dbt).
  • Contribute to shaping the Data Engineering roadmap to deliver the best experience for colleagues on the data platform.
  • Recruit and mentor new team members (beyond 6 months).
  • Take on increased accountability in project leadership (beyond 6 months).
  • Design and implement new processes, tools, and best practices (beyond 6 months).
