About The Position

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer supports U.S. civilian agencies by delivering enterprise‑scale cybersecurity engineering and implementation services across mission, business, and shared services environments. This role focuses on applying security engineering principles to real‑world federal IT environments, supporting modernization initiatives while ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity mandates. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer works closely with senior government stakeholders, program leadership, and technical teams to engineer secure, compliant, and operationally effective solutions that align with agency missions and enterprise IT strategies. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer engineers, integrates, and supports cybersecurity solutions across enterprise IT environments in alignment with federal standards and agency‑specific requirements. The role implements and maintains security controls in accordance with the NIST Risk Management Framework, supporting system security engineering activities across the system development lifecycle. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer supports Authority to Operate (ATO) efforts, including development and maintenance of System Security Plans, security control evidence, and continuous monitoring documentation. The role conducts and supports security assessments, vulnerability remediation, and control implementation validation across network, endpoint, cloud, and application layers. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer provides technical guidance to senior government and contractor stakeholders on cybersecurity risks, control effectiveness, and engineering trade‑offs. The role partners with program and project managers to ensure cybersecurity engineering efforts align with delivery schedules, governance processes, and reporting requirements. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer contributes to solution architecture discussions, proposal development, and implementation planning for new civilian agency cybersecurity initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of TEN (10) years of relevant cybersecurity or IT security experience, including a minimum of FIVE (5) years supporting federal IT enterprise environments.
  • Must demonstrate experience delivering IT solutions and cybersecurity engineering support at the senior management level within federal organizations.
  • Active CISSP‑ISSEP, PMP, and ITIL certifications are required.
  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
  • Strong communication skills are required, with the ability to translate technical cybersecurity concepts for senior leadership and non‑technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting civilian agency system security engineering, ATO programs, or continuous monitoring initiatives is strongly preferred.
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on‑premise enterprise environments.
  • Prior experience engaging directly with CIO, CISO, or senior IT leadership within a federal civilian agency.
  • Experience supporting Zero Trust, CDM, or enterprise modernization initiatives in civilian agencies is a plus.
