About The Position

Critical Start is seeking a dedicated and proficient Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join their Managed Security Services team. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and enhancing deliverables within the Managed Services program. The engineer will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining multiple SIEM environments, collaborating with team members and clients to support security technologies like Microsoft Sentinel, Sumo Logic, and Splunk, and developing customized solutions. The company emphasizes innovation, AI-driven solutions, and a collaborative, high-trust environment to redefine cybersecurity defense.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or equivalent experience and industry certifications.
5+ years of experience in a cybersecurity engineering role.
3+ years of experience with SIEM tools like Splunk or Microsoft Sentinel.
Proficiency in handling security data sources, log formats, and data ingestion methods.
Experience creating SIEM content such as alerts, reports, and dashboards.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
2+ years of experience with next-gen antivirus (AV) or endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
Scripting capabilities in languages like Bash, PowerShell, Python, or others.
Ability to establish trust and rapport with customers, even when dealing with complex technical issues.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
Experience deploying security solutions in an MSSP environment is a plus.
Experience with DevOps tools is a plus (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Salt Stack, etc.).
Scripting abilities in Bash, PowerShell, Python, or other programming/scripting languages.

Responsibilities

Configuring data sources and log forwarders.
Creating custom content (dashboards, workbooks, reports, alerts).
Conducting environment reviews and gap analyses.
Fulfilling advanced SIEM requests.
Serving as the subject matter expert and escalation point for internal and client issues.
Maintaining expertise in SIEM tools and EDR/XDR integrations.
Delivering managed services to clients through project-based workflows.
Providing technical leadership, expertise, and configuration assistance.
Collaborating on developing technical pathways for organizational growth.
Leading cross-functional training sessions.
Creating and maintaining best practices for endpoint agents, security policies, log forwarders, data sources, content, and alerts.
Assisting clients in maturing their SIEM and Endpoint security products.
Acting as a senior technical escalation resource.
Troubleshooting interactions between data sources and SIEM technologies, and API interactions.
Identifying opportunities to automate SIEM and Endpoint engineering workloads.
Working closely with clients to address technical concerns, provide value reporting, and configure environments.
Developing and maintaining comprehensive security documentation, including playbooks, SOPs, and training materials.
Staying up-to-date with the latest security threats and trends.
Obtaining and maintaining relevant security certifications.
Collaborating with cybersecurity engineers, product managers, and architects to design and implement security solutions.
