About The Position

The Senior Technology Architect (Strategy) is responsible for designing, implementing, and leading enterprise-level cyber security and network architectures. This role focuses on advancing modern security practices including Zero Trust, AI-driven security operations, and hybrid managed security services models. The position requires strong expertise in cyber security frameworks, cloud platforms, and next-generation network technologies, along with experience advising leadership and contributing to large-scale transformation initiatives within public-sector or education environments.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in cyber security and network security architecture
  • 5+ years designing enterprise-wide architectures across cloud, network, identity, and security operations
  • Hands-on experience with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA)
  • Hands-on experience with SASE/SSE (SWG, CASB, FWaaS, ZTNA)
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud security platforms (Microsoft, AWS, Google)
  • Hands-on experience with MITRE ATT&CK, NIST CSF, CIS Controls
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, UEBA
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML-driven security analytics and automation
  • Hands-on experience with Identity and access management (MFA, passwordless, certificates)
  • Hands-on experience with Threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management
  • Hands-on experience with Penetration testing and red teaming
  • Experience designing hybrid security operations integrating MSSPs
  • 5+ years of experience with LAN/WAN, VPN, VLAN, firewalls and routing
  • Experience with SDN/SD-WAN technologies
  • Experience with SASE/SSE platforms
  • Strong knowledge of network monitoring and telemetry tools
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting network protocols
  • 10+ years advising executive stakeholders
  • Experience leading large, multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Experience building technology roadmaps and modernization strategies
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory alignment in public-sector environments
  • Experience working within the Ontario public sector or similar regulated environments
  • Knowledge of government standards and policies

Nice To Haves

  • Postgraduate degree in computer science, cyber security, or engineering
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CEH, CISA, or CRISC
  • Experience in education sector environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end architecture design and integration strategy for cyber security operating models
  • Provide subject matter expertise across cyber security, network architecture, and modern security frameworks
  • Design and implement AI-enabled security capabilities including automation, analytics, and threat detection
  • Develop and implement hybrid cyber security operating models integrating internal teams with managed service providers
  • Deliver architecture, design, and implementation for next-generation network and cyber security technologies (SASE, SD-WAN, IAM, endpoint security, etc.)
  • Develop enterprise reference architectures aligned across infrastructure, security, and operational domains
  • Support transition from traditional security operations to hybrid managed security services models
  • Provide advisory on modernization strategies including cloud adoption, segmentation, and data residency
  • Lead architecture assessments and develop technology roadmaps based on industry trends and threat intelligence
  • Create technical documentation including architecture designs, reports, and cost models
  • Provide expertise in NOC/SOC technologies including SIEM, SOAR, and monitoring platforms
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and present recommendations to senior leadership
  • Support implementation, troubleshooting, training, and on-site activities when required
