About The Position

The Senior Cyber Engineer will provide matrixed technical and programmatic leadership and support across multiple Space Force program offices, including BMC3I, OTTI, and SWAC. The role provides accreditation, cybersecurity, and systems engineering support for customers and users, as well as acquisition planning and execution support for current and future needs across all classification levels. The engineer will facilitate definition of security objectives, develop system security requirements and verification methods, and inform mission-critical engineering decisions with cybersecurity expertise. The work ensures security objectives, protection needs, assurance requirements, and risk management strategies are defined, implemented, and validated. The selected candidate must work full-time on-site at the company’s facilities in Colorado Springs, Colorado, or El Segundo, California, and may travel occasionally to a work location or customer site, approximately 20% of the time if required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in STEM, Information Security/Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related subject area.
At least 10 years of system security experience across multiple cybersecurity domains, such as application security, defensive cyber operations, vulnerability analysis, reverse engineering, network security, or embedded systems security, with a demonstrated record of delivering mission-critical security solutions.
Cybersecurity certification(s) meeting DoD 8140 requirements.
Demonstrated experience leading cybersecurity teams and programs, analyzing complex problems, and delivering effective solutions in high-pressure environments that directly affect mission success.
Experience defining and analyzing threat and vulnerability likelihood together with mission impact to determine risk.
Willingness to travel occasionally to a work location or customer site, approximately 20% of the time if required.
Current and active TS/SCI security clearance, with the ability to obtain Special Access (SAP).
U.S. citizenship, required to obtain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Advanced degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or Software Engineering.
Multiple cybersecurity certifications, such as CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, C|EH, or SANS.
Understanding of satellite system design and technology and the challenges associated with securing satellite systems.
Experience with Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) planning and implementation.
Experience with cloud offerings and services such as AWS, Azure, and VMware.
Experience developing technical solutions and security tools to mitigate vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.

Responsibilities

Provide cybersecurity systems engineering support to government and contracted personnel in architecture, configuration management, security assessments, and accreditation matters.
Engineer, implement, and monitor security measures protecting cyberspace systems, networks, and information throughout the system development lifecycle.
Review and design security architecture for next-generation space mission systems and recommend improvements to system baselines.
Identify and define system security requirements and develop detailed cybersecurity designs aligned with mission objectives.
Identify and recommend strategies to mitigate or remove ground and space cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
Participate in risk management activities, evaluating cybersecurity risks and applying effective mitigations in accordance with security directives.
Provide cybersecurity expertise for critical decision points and ground-truth assessments of security events, activities, and posture.
Review cybersecurity test procedures for requirements satisfaction, including participating in Test Readiness Reviews and witnessing test events.
