The City and County of Denver District Attorney's Office is seeking a Senior Criminal Investigator. The mission of the office is to professionally and competently prosecute crimes and investigate criminal activity on behalf of the people of the State of Colorado, seeking equal justice for all. This includes crime prevention, victim support, community participation, transparency, accountability, and improving the criminal justice system with fair alternatives to incarceration. The Senior Criminal Investigator will be responsible for the proper investigation of assigned cases, interviewing complainants, victims, and witnesses, and keeping supervisors informed of case progress. They will also prepare exhibits for trial, obtain criminal histories, locate witnesses, serve subpoenas, and provide logistical support. Additionally, the role involves assisting prosecutors with tasks such as crime scene photography and follow-up interviews, preparing court cases, presenting evidence, and providing testimony. The investigator will also collaborate with other units within the District Attorney's Office and external law enforcement agencies, and make requests for examination of physical evidence. A key aspect of the role is the prevention and suppression of crime through investigative procedures, with a focus on proactive work consistent with the organizational philosophy of vertical prosecution. Investigators work under direct supervision and general direction, with assignments requiring extensive independent judgment and planning.
