About The Position

The Senior Credit Underwriter is a Senior-level individual contributor within Institutional Client Group Corporate Banking, responsible for underwriting and advising on the credit structure of transactions across a portfolio of insurance clients, including life, property & casualty, reinsurance, and related financial structures. Partners with Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers to support new business origination, manage ongoing credit relationships, and ensure consistent execution of underwriting standards. Serves as a key escalation point for complex transactions and provides credit guidance across the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, accounting or other related field
  • 10 or more years of banking experience
  • Demonstrated experience underwriting complex corporate or institutional credit exposures

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and manage credit exposures across an insurance portfolio, including new originations and existing relationships
  • Lead credit analysis and approval processes for complex transactions, providing independent risk assessments
  • Provide credit perspective on transaction structuring, including evaluation of key terms, risk mitigants, and alignment with risk appetite
  • Manage portfolio monitoring, including reviews, amendments, and covenant compliance
  • Serve as a senior resource and escalation point for underwriting and credit-related matters
  • Partner with Relationship Managers on client discussions and credit-related inquiries
  • Mentor junior team members and support consistent underwriting execution
  • Ensure adherence to credit policies and regulatory requirements
