About The Position

The Senior Credit Risk Officer is responsible for assisting the Chief Credit Officer with identifying, assessing, reporting and managing the risks associated with lending and credit activities within the Bank.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in risk management, financial analysis, or internal audit within a banking or regulated financial services environment.
  • Advanced understanding of credit risk at the individual and portfolio levels, bank balance sheet dynamics, and general knowledge of the three lines of defense model.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL queries, data manipulation frameworks, database systems, and visualization tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Ability to translate complex quantitative risk data into simplified, cogent narratives for C-suite and Board members.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with an uncompromising focus on identifying data discrepancies and structural anomalies.
  • Confidence to constructively challenge peer managers and first-line business owners on data submissions and mitigation plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Jack Henry Silverlake and Cognos Business Intelligence is a preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, complete, and distribute the bi-monthly Credit Quality and Credit Administrative Risk components of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Committee books.
  • Develop and maintain monthly credit quality reports and dashboards for Management/Board books.
  • Calculate, compile, and distribute the quarterly Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) recommendation.
  • Synthesize the Bank’s loan portfolio raw data sets into coherent executive summaries for Bank management and directors as needed.
  • Conduct trend analysis and stress testing scenario modeling to identify emerging portfolio threats before they impact capital adequacy.
  • Monitor portfolio concentrations, identifying correlations between concentrations, identify performance and risk trends and recommend policy limits and underwriting standards.
  • Maintain Credit Policy. Recommend updates to policy as needed based on changes in regulatory guidance, economic conditions, and the Bank’s products and services.
  • Maintain procedures affecting credit risk with an eye toward standardization of processes.
  • Oversee and ensure all risk reporting components align with applicable regulatory guidance (e.g., FDIC & TxDOB).
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal/external auditors and regulatory examination teams during scheduled audits.
  • Document and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and audit trails for all data compilation workflows.
  • Partner with the First Line of Defense (Business Units) to optimize their Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
  • Provide ad-hoc risk intelligence and data analysis to support strategic decision-making.
