About The Position

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Credit Analyst to support commercial lending through comprehensive financial analysis, credit underwriting, risk assessment, and portfolio monitoring. This position plays a critical role in evaluating commercial credit opportunities, supporting loan structuring decisions, identifying emerging risks, and maintaining the quality of the Credit Union's commercial loan portfolio. The Senior Credit Analyst serves as a trusted partner to Loan Officers and management while providing mentorship and guidance to junior credit staff.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze commercial loan requests and provide independent credit recommendations based on financial performance, collateral position, industry trends, and overall credit risk.
  • Prepare detailed financial statement spreads, cash flow analyses, risk assessments, and comprehensive Credit Memo Presentations utilizing approved underwriting tools and software.
  • Evaluate borrower repayment capacity through analysis of financial statements, tax returns, debt service coverage, liquidity, leverage, and profitability metrics.
  • Assign and monitor risk ratings and evaluate covenant compliance.
  • Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks within borrower relationships and industries.
  • Partner with Loan Officers to structure commercial lending relationships that appropriately balance member needs, portfolio objectives, and risk management standards.
  • Monitor existing commercial credit relationships and proactively identify emerging risks.
  • Recommend corrective actions, risk mitigation strategies, loan modifications, or workout solutions when necessary.
  • Prepare portfolio monitoring reports and credit risk analyses for management, Loan Committee, and other stakeholders.
  • Track pipeline activity, covenant compliance, collateral requirements, and financial reporting through loan origination and portfolio management systems.
  • Review commercial loan files to ensure complete and accurate documentation.
  • Conduct collateral evaluations and value verification for real estate, equipment, inventory, accounts receivable, and other pledged assets.
  • Review appraisals to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and sound lending practices.
  • Assist in ensuring loans are properly documented, perfected, and administered throughout their lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate credit files and support ongoing loan administration processes.
  • Conduct borrower meetings, site visits, collateral inspections, and floor plan reviews to validate business operations and collateral condition.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and borrower financial trends to identify early warning indicators.
  • Assist with managing problem credits, loan workout strategies, and collection efforts when needed.
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior credit analysts and support staff.
  • Promote consistency in underwriting, portfolio management, and credit administration practices.
  • Serve as a department resource and team lead in the absence of the Credit Manager.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives, process improvements, and special projects.
  • Attend and contribute to Loan Committee meetings by presenting analyses and credit recommendations.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the Credit Union's Loan Policy, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development and maintenance of credit policies, procedures, and risk management practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, internal controls, and lending standards.
