About The Position

The Senior Credit & Alternative Financing Specialist will help support the Credit Department by underwriting flexible funding requests, evaluating non-traditional financial metrics, and managing portfolio health. Beyond day-to-day credit risk evaluation, this individual will play a key role in collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Operations, and Risk teams to inform, test, and refine our broader suite of capital solutions. It is critical for this person to operate effectively in a fast-paced fintech environment, balancing sound credit fundamentals with innovative working capital strategy.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of commercial credit underwriting experience at a fintech company, with an emphasis on revenue-based financing, receivables financing, or short-term working capital products is required.
  • Hands-on experience in asset-based lending preferred.
  • Strong core credit fundamentals, including financial statement analysis (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow), cash-flow modeling, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Proven track record analyzing high-frequency data, bank statements (e.g., Plaid, DecisionLogic), and transactional cash flows.
  • Product-oriented mindset with the ability to translate credit risk concepts into functional feedback for product and engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with inventory-based sales cycles and CPG business models is strongly preferred.
  • 1+ years of practical experience using Generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) within a professional work environment to streamline analysis, reporting, or operational workflows.
  • Technical proficiency in MS Excel, Google Workspace, Python, SQL, Slack, and cash-flow modeling tools.
  • Meticulously detail-oriented, with strong critical thinking skills and a self-starter attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite commercial credit applications using standard financial statement analysis (P&L, BS, Cash Flow) while heavily leveraging high-frequency transaction data, bank analytics, and merchant statement trends.
  • Inform Product Development: Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Risk Operations to provide credit domain expertise that helps shape underwriting logic, risk parameters, and product features for working capital products.
  • Evaluate receivables quality, buyer creditworthiness, and high-frequency cash flows to mitigate dilution, fraud, and credit defaults.
  • Perform ongoing collateral monitoring, tracking cash flow volatility, remittance patterns, and daily/weekly payment health across active accounts.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, tracking borrower concentration, reserve requirements, aging schedules, and early default indicators.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Finance and Capital Markets to optimize borrowing facility reporting and streamline customer onboarding.
  • Leverage AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini) to optimize underwriting workflows, summarize complex credit files, and draft risk assessments efficiently.
