About The Position

ArenaNet is seeking a Contract Senior Creature AI Designer for an unannounced project built in Unreal Engine 5. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and polishing enemy and friendly AI behaviors. The ideal candidate will own complex iteration, collaborate with multiple disciplines, and establish and maintain quality and technical standards for AI content. This is an advanced role for someone passionate about creating engaging AI experiences.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in game development with a focus on live service, metagame features, and rewards systems.
• 1 or more AAA games shipped in an AI behaviors focused role.
• Pre-production game design experience.
• Experience implementing gameplay systems using Unreal Engine 5.
• Strong experience working on Unreal AI behaviors.
• Experience working on AI Behaviors for a multiplayer game.
• Ability to implement and iterate content using engine tools, scripting systems, or visual scripting.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills when working with cross-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Content Design, Technical Design, Creature Design, Art, and Engineering to deliver quality AI behaviors.
• Plan AI development timelines and goals in coordination with Systems and Product Leads.
• Craft elegant solutions for player engagement with AI.
• Maintain vision and direction for AI behaviors across the game.
• Use Unreal Engine 5 tools and scripting systems to prototype and test AI behaviors.
• Prioritize AI work with the AI Engineering team.
• Iterate on features based on feedback, data, playtests, and design reviews to ensure polished and intuitive gameplay.
• Exemplify quality bar, effective work within constraints, and professionalism.
