About The Position

Ferguson is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Counter Sales Associate to join their team. This role goes beyond transactional support—it is a senior position at the counter, focused on driving sales growth, mentoring team members, and serving as a trusted advisor to plumbing and HVAC contractor customers. The associate will leverage deep product knowledge and consultative selling skills to influence purchasing decisions, promote strategic initiatives, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. The ideal candidate is a proven sales performer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about helping customers succeed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in counter sales, customer service, or related industry; plumbing experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Advanced product knowledge and ability to provide consultative solutions.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Digital literacy and ability to analyze sales data.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-oriented.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer engagement at the counter, on the phone, and via email by providing expert guidance and recommending solutions that align with customer needs and company strategy.
  • Serve as the go-to product expert for plumbing and related categories; stay current on new technologies and industry trends.
  • Drive revenue growth through proactive upselling, cross-selling, and promotion of strategic products and programs.
  • Mentor and coach junior Counter Sales Associates to improve product knowledge, selling techniques, and customer service skills.
  • Collaborate with Outside Sales and Branch Management to develop and execute local sales strategies.
  • Manage complex orders and special projects, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Analyze sales data and customer trends to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Maintain a professional, organized counter environment and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist with inventory management, cycle counts, and stock optimization.
