Role Summary Cardlytics is looking for a Senior Counsel to join our small, nimble, fast-paced Legal and Compliance department, reporting to the Assistant General Counsel. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, wildly intelligent attorney who is also a practical thinker, unafraid to keep the “big picture” in mind. They must be passionate about ensuring that Cardlytics has a world-class legal department that can protect the company, drive business forward, and get deals done – and done well. A great attitude, an ability to think fast and change with the business, and an appetite for doing something you’ve never done before are required.

Requirements

• At least 3-5 years of legal experience– dealing with complex legal issues and time spent at a top law firm with expertise in privacy and cybersecurity is a plus
• Sizing up a legal document and spotting the issues, whether a simple sales contract or a multi-million-dollar agreement that will change the trajectory of the company
• Influencing decisions at all levels and have a demonstrated ability to align stakeholders and teams on a common solution
• Understanding complex business and technical concepts and consistently demonstrate good judgment when faced with difficult trade-offs
• Managing competing business needs and finding creative solutions that address concerns of all stakeholders
• Privacy or advertising law – preferred
• We primarily use macOS and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides). While our preferred platform is macOS, we support both macOS and Windows. Familiarity with or willingness to work within this environment is required.

Responsibilities

• Support business units across the company, assisting stakeholders with a vast array of legal needs
• Help develop new and improved processes and procedures to ensure that Cardlytics’ Legal and Compliance department is efficient, organized, and world-class
• Promote the Legal and Compliance Department’s vision across the company, ensuring that our legal obligations are met, and the company is protected in every facet
• Use your legal brain to identify solutions to complex problems – going beyond pointing out that a problem exists
• Help navigate rapidly developing data privacy legislation to ensure that company’s policies and procedures remain ahead of the curve
