About The Position

Cor Partners is seeking a mid-level attorney to provide legal partnership to its four sister companies across professional liability, litigation management, and risk mitigation. This role will serve as the primary legal advisor to business and operational leaders, managing litigation, leading subpoena management and response, managing external counsel, and ensuring alignment of process and practice across businesses. As Cor Partners centralizes legal partnership and support, this role will be pivotal in driving consistency across the enterprise while also providing a governance and oversight function. The attorney's expertise will directly impact business continuity, risk management, and market reputation and relationships, while their collaborative, solutions-oriented approach will empower teams to move efficiently through complex legal matters.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in good standing
  • ~10+ years in insurance services, claims handling, TPA, and/or expert services, with a focus on: Professional liability, Insurance defense, Litigation management, Collaboration with outside counsel, carriers, and intermediary legal partners
  • Hands-on experience with subpoenas, document requests, and complex productions
  • Contract lifecycle management: drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Deep understanding of the insurance claims process and industry landscape
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional written and oral communication – ability to distill complex legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-entity, growth-oriented environment.
  • Consultative and collaborative – a trusted partner to business leaders and operational teams

Responsibilities

  • Own and oversee active and pending litigation, coordinating with outside counsel, carrier partner counsel, and internal stakeholders to drive strategic outcomes.
  • Prepare and defend experts for/in depositions and attend mediations.
  • Respond to subpoenas, regulatory inquiries, and document/file requests, determining appropriate scope of production while safeguarding privileged and confidential information.
  • Partner with internal teams to identify, collect, and review documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Provide proactive legal guidance on professional liability exposures and risk strategies tied to business operations.
  • Advise leadership on legal, regulatory, and operational matters impacting the enterprise.
  • Manage occasional trademark matters.
  • Review, draft, and provide input on negotiation of commercial contracts (client, vendor, and service agreements) across business and functional areas.
  • Support the development and implementation of enterprise-wide legal and compliance processes, including document retention, file content, and records management.
  • Provide training and education on legal and compliance processes.
