About The Position

Platt Richmond is seeking a senior-level Litigation Associate to join our growing practice. This role is designed for someone responsible for managing a broad range of commercial litigation matters both in Texas and across the country including contract, fraud, intellectual property, defamation, real estate, creditor’s rights, class action defense and other business disputes. This role requires a deep knowledge of the litigation process and the ability to manage all aspects of a matter including legal research and writing, strategy development, hearings, depositions, and trial preparation and attendance. This role with work with and mentor associate attorneys and paralegals.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of commercial litigation experience involving business disputes and causes of action
  • Experience managing junior attorneys and paralegals
  • Experience in state and federal courts
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Intellectual curiosity and genuine interest in projects, rather than a “finish the task and forget about it” approach
  • Excellent communication and grammatical skills, both verbal and written
  • Genuine, authentic personality
  • Team player; takes direction well; receptive to constructive feedback
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • J.D. and Texas Bar Admittance

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload and assist in all facets of the litigation practice
  • Manage and oversee junior associates and paralegals
  • Draft motions, discovery, and legal briefs
  • Take fact and expert depositions
  • Appear for court hearings
  • Litigation strategy development and trail preparation and practice
  • Take real ownership of your work instead of just supporting a small piece of it
  • Assist partners on a broad range of commercial litigation cases
  • Prepare motions, discovery and legal briefs
  • Conduct legal due diligence, including fact checking and expert depositions
  • Quarterback caseloads and assist in all facets of the litigation practice
  • Manage and delegate appropriate tasks to junior attorneys and paralegals
