About The Position

Whop is hiring an experienced litigator to own its disputes function and serve as the company’s primary employment counsel. The role manages litigation, arbitration, and pre-litigation disputes; protects and enforces intellectual property; handles consumer and merchant disputes and complaints; and advises the people team on U.S. and international employment matters. The Senior Counsel handles matters directly when appropriate, selects and manages outside counsel when needed, and develops processes to prevent disputes from recurring. The role covers litigation and arbitration strategy, budgets, settlements, outside counsel oversight, consumer and merchant complaints, arbitration terms and class-action or mass-arbitration risk, trademark and brand protection, content-related infringement, DMCA processes, employment advice, international hiring structures, internal investigations, subpoenas, law-enforcement requests, legal holds, and e-discovery. It also builds playbooks, templates, training, and AI-assisted workflows to manage legal matters consistently and efficiently. The position is based in Brooklyn, New York, or Palo Alto, California, and is in office five days a week. The role reports to the General Counsel. Whop describes itself as an in-office company of about 100 people and says it provides team members with meaningful ownership, resources, and autonomy. The base salary range has not yet been provided; total compensation includes equity.
