About The Position

The Senior Counsel, Labor & Employment will serve as a lead legal expert, strategic advisor, and trusted partner to the Human Resources department, senior business leadership, and operational teams. This role is primarily focused on providing proactive, day-to-day legal advice and counseling to mitigate organizational risk, ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local employment laws, and support a high-performance workplace culture. While this role involves overseeing employment litigation, administrative charges, and labor-related matters, the ideal candidate will prioritize proactive advisory functions—building scalable, compliant policies and providing real-time, practical guidance that aligns with the company’s strategic business objectives and values.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience practicing labor and employment law.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience advising on a wide range of employment law matters, including wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, leave laws, and employee relations.
  • Experience managing employment litigation and administrative proceedings.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a corporate in-house legal department.
  • Experience with union relations and collective bargaining.
  • Experience developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
