About The Position

SBI Consultants LLC is currently looking for a Senior Cost Manager / Senior Estimator (SCM) to join our team. The SCM is an integral role that interacts closely with all levels of external and internal stakeholders. The SCM is responsible for the line of business that performs cost management and estimating consulting for architects, engineers, developers, and owners. Through alignment with office and project teams and utilizing industry best practices, the SCM ensures Client's needs are met and expectations exceeded, thus stimulating revenue growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor and/or Master's degree in engineering/construction management from an accredited university.
  • 10+ years of progressive relevant industry experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, including 3+ years experience managing a team.
  • Experience managing processes, projects, and teams is required.
  • Experience in all stages of a project - from estimating to close out - is a must.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • High level of attention to detail with ability to see big picture.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with multiple projects and aggressive deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and self-starter.
  • Organized.
  • Understand project budgeting and resource planning.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to read and interpret Construction Drawings and Specifications.
  • Ability to confirm scope/identify gaps and scope creeps.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel - advanced level).
  • Proficient with CAD or other Building Modeling & Design applications, Project Management, Scheduling, Estimating software.
  • Bluebeam - advanced level.
  • Must have full understanding of ERP modules related to construction management.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the team of Project Engineers/Estimators, manages their daily activities.
  • Implements technical estimating standards and procedures.
  • Assesses team skillset, develops team's training and development plan to ensure services are performed at the highest industry standards.
  • Manages SBI estimating department, manages workload & resources.
  • Develops team skillset through coaching, mentoring, sharing knowledge and best industry practices.
  • Evaluates performance and provides timely feedback.
  • Creates budgets and estimates by performing accurate quantity take offs, using plans and specs, or conceptual information.
  • Oversees the complete estimating process.
  • Prepares conceptual budgets based with minimal information available.
  • Prepares Schematic, Design Development and GMP estimates at the different stages of design.
  • Responsible for maintaining SBI internal historical cost database.
  • Ensures database is updated timely with actual Project cost data.
  • Establishes standardized procedure.
  • Ensures QA/QC of submitted estimates/cost models.
  • Reviews, estimates and reconciles change orders.
  • Serves as point of contact for various stakeholders - Clients, Contractors and Subcontractors, Architects/Engineers and SBI team-members.
  • Facilitates transparent, clear and timely communication; team player.
  • Interacts well with different types of clients via all means (in-person, email, phone or video call).
  • Solicits subcontractor and supplier info and pricing data.
  • Initiates and manages the entire bid process inclusive of preparation of detailed bid packages and assures accurate and proper submissions/proposals by all subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Performs and/or oversees quantity survey and pricing effort for internal budgets.
  • Reviews general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, hoisting plans, site logistics and other exhibits as prepared by Operations.
  • Maintains and communicates data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs.
  • Develops and implements Value Engineering solutions to drive down project costs while maintaining a high level of construction quality.
  • Analyzes alternate means and methods to determine the most economical alternative.
  • Develops subcontractor, vendor and client relationship.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
