About The Position

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to lead day‑to‑day client engagement on a large, multi‑phase data center program for a high‑profile technology client in Montgomery County, TN (approximately 50 miles west of Nashville). This is a high‑visibility, client‑facing role requiring strong leadership across all aspects of cost management on a complex, phased construction program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5–7+ years of experience in a cost management or quantity surveying role within the construction industry
  • Experience leading cost management on medium to large‑scale construction projects of moderate to high complexity
  • Strong knowledge of construction procurement routes, value management, and cost control processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Consultancy experience strongly preferred
  • Professional accreditation (or working towards) such as RICS preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead estimating, cost planning, and change management across multiple construction phases, including the negotiation of change orders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Produce, present, and maintain detailed cost plans, forecasts, and funding data at key design and construction milestones
  • Work collaboratively with designers, contractors, and project managers to develop, reconcile, and validate construction cost estimates
  • Review contractor and subcontractor pricing, challenge assumptions, and lead commercial negotiations to achieve fair and accurate contract values
  • Manage post‑contract cost control, including valuations, cost checks, contingency management, and commitment tracking
  • Prepare and issue monthly cost reports, executive summaries, and variance analyses for client review
  • Coordinate all sources of cost information, including trade pricing, quantities from design consultants, and direct supplier inputs
  • Support value engineering and optioneering exercises, providing clear commercial input to inform design decisions
  • Ensure effective cost auditing, valuation processes, and timely agreement of final accounts
  • Compile built cost data for benchmarking and continuous improvement
  • Proactively resolve commercial and scheduling issues with minimal supervision
  • Identify, coach, and mentor team members, fostering high performance and professional development
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with Turner & Townsend’s business management systems, delivery methodologies, and best‑practice standards
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
