About The Position

Keville Enterprises, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Estimator with a strong emphasis on electrical systems to join their construction management consulting and inspection team. This role is crucial for supporting owners' representative services on a variety of public infrastructure projects, including transit systems, bridges, highways, tunnels, airports, ports, water/wastewater facilities, and buildings. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in estimating electrical systems such as Power Distribution Systems (high, medium, and low voltage), Railroad Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS), DC Traction Power, Railroad Signals, Communications Systems (data networks, public address, Wi-Fi distribution, fiber networks), Safety and Security Systems (fire alarm, CCTV, access control), and Process Controls and Instrumentation. They must be capable of producing accurate and independent cost estimates throughout all project phases.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimating, with a strong focus on electrical systems.
  • Proven track record of success on infrastructure projects such as transit, bridges, highways, and rail.
  • Capable of developing independent cost estimates.
  • Effectively analyze change orders and claims.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
  • High proficiency in the use of both laptop and desktop computers.
  • Exceptional expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experienced in reading construction plans and specifications.
  • Experienced in developing crews, equipment needs, and production rates necessary to execute a project.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Positive attitude, calm demeanor, and ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Fluency in English, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a current, valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record if assigned driving duties.
  • OSHA 10 certification is a condition of employment.
  • Background checks required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Sage Estimating or HCSS HeavyBid software.
  • An AACE certification, such as Certified Estimating Professional (CEP).
  • Familiarity with construction management consulting practices.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local infrastructure project requirements.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop independent cost estimates (ICE) at various design stages (conceptual, preliminary, final).
  • Prepare and review cost estimates for change orders and claims analysis.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accurate pricing.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to validate cost assumptions.
  • Utilize estimating software (Sage Estimating or similar) to prepare detailed cost breakdowns.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry pricing, labor rates, and market trends.
  • Provide expert input on risk assessment and value engineering opportunities.
