About The Position

Our client is a leading global construction consultancy renowned for delivering high-profile, complex and iconic large-scale capital projects. With a strong focus on sustainability and innovation, they are truly at the forefront of their industry. We are currently seeking a talented full-time Senior Cost Consultant for Life Science and Industrial Manufacturing projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Finance or related field (MS, MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience working in a cost management role in the construction industry.
  • Professional membership i.e. MRICS/RICS (or equivalent) and moving towards fellowship, or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills, along with the ability to assure service delivery and provide meaningful/ actional insights.
  • Knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
  • Experience in managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical/ Life Science sector or other similar manufacturing or highly technical environment.
  • Experience leading cost management on large-sized construction projects of medium to high complexity.
  • Oracle Unifier or other project management system.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of cost planning, including ownership of and presentation of cost plans to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the procurement process, ensuring stages including prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively.
  • Support the delivery of cost management services to delivery key strategic outcomes and KPIs, directly influencing strategic development of plans.
  • Serve as a client-facing senior cost consultant lead who assists with strategic, tactical, and technical advice.
  • Manage and grow cost management teams or accounts.
  • Interface with clients, external and internal consultants at all project stages.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and produce procurement reports.
  • Produce ROMs for new and pipeline projects for a project budget to be based on.
  • Day to day cost management of medium-large scale client projects including procurement, pay requests, change management and cost reporting.
  • Apply value management techniques at the outset of a project involving existing protocols and systems.
  • Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Manage the procurement process, ensuring that all stages including, pre-qualification, enquiry, evaluation, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively.
  • Ensure post contract cost variances, change control, cost checking and valuation processes are managed effectively.
  • Ensure the production of monthly post contract and cost reports and present them to the client.
  • Provide value engineering life cycle costing.
  • Manage the final account negotiation and agreement.
  • Update benchmarking efforts as new projects are executed to provide real cost data to client.
