About The Position

The Senior Manager of Cost Accounting serves as a key leader within the Global Accounting team, overseeing all accounting and reporting activities related to inventory, reserves, and transfer pricing across a global manufacturing network. Reporting to the Director of Global Accounting Operations, this role provides strategic and operational leadership, ensures compliance with US GAAP and statutory requirements, and drives process improvements and automation initiatives. The position offers the opportunity to lead a high-performing team, collaborate with cross-functional partners, and contribute to the ongoing optimization of global cost and operations accounting.

Requirements

  • CPA designation strongly preferred for candidates with an accounting background.
  • Experience in Big 4 public accounting or a similar audit-focused environment.
  • background in cost accounting within large-scale manufacturing or pharmaceutical operations.
  • Experience leading or supporting ERP implementations, particularly SAP S/4 HANA, with a focus on cost and operations accounting modules.
  • Familiarity with Robotics Process Automation (RPA) and other automation tools used to streamline accounting processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise both onshore and offshore teams, including contractors and outsourced resources.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and enhancing internal controls within accounting functions.
  • Experience collaborating with FP&A, Supply Chain, Tax, and IT teams on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Comfort working with global teams and across different time zones, with sensitivity to cultural differences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Global Cost Operations Accounting team to execute all accounting and reporting activities related to inventory, reserves, and transfer pricing for the manufacturing network.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and other statutory reporting requirements in all areas of inventory and cost accounting.
  • Partner closely with FP&A, Supply Chain, Corporate Tax, Disbursements, and Information Systems to ensure accurate and complete accounting for inventory, including providing site-level support.
  • Collaborate with accounting management to ensure proper application and interpretation of US GAAP and adherence to company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Corporate External Reporting, Corporate Audit, External Auditors, and Tax Compliance teams to provide audit support, reporting analysis, and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Lead ERP and automation initiatives, including Robotics Process Automation, related to Cost and Operations Accounting, ensuring proper design, documentation, testing, and training of personnel.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and analysis of inventory and cost-related financial reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with organizational standards.
  • Lead and manage a team of 4 to 5 individuals in the Global Cost Operations Accounting group, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of offshore team members supporting cost operations accounting through an outsourced vendor, ensuring effective collaboration and high-quality deliverables.
  • Drive continuous improvement in cost accounting processes, controls, and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of financial information.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects related to inventory, supply chain, and cost optimization, providing financial insights and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation of processes, policies, and controls related to cost and inventory accounting, and support internal and external audit requirements.
  • Identify and resolve complex accounting issues in the areas of inventory and cost accounting, leveraging strong technical US GAAP knowledge.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels of the organization through clear written reports, presentations, and verbal updates.
  • Work proactively and independently in a fast-paced environment, taking initiative to address issues, implement solutions, and meet deadlines.
