Senior Correctional Officer
About The Position
Performs advanced-level security tasks in an investigation lead or specialist capacity to maintain the safety and security of the Iowa Department of Corrections’ Clarinda Correctional Facility, an adult male correctional institution. Supports the Iowa Department of Corrections’ mission, vision, and values with integrity and commitment. Maintains ongoing direct contact with and supervision of incarcerated individuals to enforce and maintain discipline, safety, and security within the facility, and assists with investigations conducted by an Investigator II or with specialty security duties. Performs related work as required. The stated schedule is 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, with Sunday and Monday off. Hours may vary based on operational and investigative needs.
Requirements
- Meet at least one of the following minimum qualifications: high school graduation, GED, or equivalent and one year of full-time work experience as a correctional officer; two years of full-time work experience as a law enforcement officer; or current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes 18 months of full-time work as a Correctional Food Service Coordinator, State Industries Technician, or a position involving leading or directing incarcerated individuals and security work.
