About The Position

The Senior Coordinator, Health & Safety is responsible for proactively addressing HSE issues and effectively communicating with site personnel and contractors regarding HSE policies, standards, and programs. This role acts as a site subject matter expert (SME) for occupational safety and health programs, providing guidance on complex technical issues and regulatory interpretations. The position supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of health & safety policies, and coaches employees and contractors to influence positive HSE behaviors. A strong field presence is maintained to understand how work is performed. The role involves monitoring, auditing, training, and reporting to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations. Responsibilities include supporting incident investigations, leading continuous improvement initiatives, overseeing Life Saving Rules, analyzing incident reports and safety metrics, and maintaining Occupational Health & Safety reporting requirements. The Senior Coordinator will also manage safety and personal protective equipment, participate in risk management activities, and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Possess a general understanding of LNG (or other cryogenic hydrocarbon liquids), transportation, storage and processing including safety, operations, governmental regulations and associated codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with safety and health specifications and requirements/regulations to operate LNG facilities.
  • Understands the various applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, standards, and permits required to operate an LNG facility, including but not limited to: PHMSA, DOT, OSHA, USCG, FERC, NFPA and knowledge in emergency response operations, techniques, and reporting.
  • Strong leadership, strong communication, and administrative abilities are required.
  • Competence with health and safety regulatory requirements for federal, state, and local government agencies and/or have the ability to learn and obtain necessary skill/knowledge requirements within timeframe designated by management.
  • Knowledge of investigation techniques, root cause analysis, incident reporting and/or have the ability to learn and obtain necessary skill/knowledge requirements within timeframe designated by management.
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple activities and programs timely and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Effective problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite consisting of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to prepare and present information to a varying audience.
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • CSP/ASP Certification preferred.
  • Experience in HSE, Emergency Response or equivalent military experience.
  • Health and Safety Management/Leadership experience in a manufacturing related environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively address HSE issues and effectively communicate with site personnel and contractors regarding HSE policies, standards and programs.
  • Act as a site subject matter expert (SME) for occupational safety and health programs, providing guidance on complex technical issues and regulatory interpretations.
  • Research and interpret new and current regulatory and company requirements to make recommendations on policies and procedures as required.
  • Support the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of comprehensive health & safety policies.
  • Support Health & Safety programs with supervisors, operations, maintenance and contractor personnel to influence Cheniere procedures, guidelines and work methods for operations and maintenance activities.
  • Coach, influence and reinforce positive HSE behaviors for all employees and contractors.
  • Maintain strong field presence to understand how work happens in the field.
  • Monitor, audit, train and prepare reports to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations, site-specific conditions, requirements, procedures, policies, or other authorizing documents required by federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Accountable for defined HSE programs, compliance readiness, incident reporting, corrective-action tracking, and measurable safety improvements.
  • Support incident investigations, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiative that strengthens safety culture.
  • Oversee various Cheniere Life Saving Rules.
  • Analyze incident reports, safety metrics, and injury case studies to identify trends, root causes, and systemic risks.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions that reduce future incidents and strengthen overall workplace safety.
  • Use data-driven insights to recommend policy updates, training enhancements, and operational changes that support a safer and more proactive safety culture.
  • Maintain Occupational Health & Safety reporting requirements.
  • File and record safety and health documentation in the corporate document management system, Company Incident Management System as needed or directed.
  • Specify, select, maintain, and recommend safety and personal protective equipment needed for employee safety.
  • Participate in Risk Management activities such as Risk Assessments, PHA’s, HazOps, PSSR, and MOC evaluations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
