About The Position

We are looking for a dedicated and innovative Senior Control System Engineering Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. Your role Integrating software and hardware components and preparing software engineering documents such as test procedures, test reports, operation manuals etc. Performing the suitability assessment (and qualification where needed) of system hardware and predeveloped software components. Implementing and maintaining key project support systems (i.e., configuration management, document management and change control systems) for the tooling department. Responsible for change control - Using configuration management system provided by his/her department to maintain software files, release, and documentation. Preparing and maintaining work plans for the control software change activities. Timely execution of the assigned scope in the assigned software project capacities. Support designing, installation and testing of an assigned product test environment. Site support and software maintenance services include shift work (day shift and night shift work). Supporting the selection and qualification of Control Systems hardware by the tooling group. Collaborate with project teams to define requirements and deliver optimal solutions. Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical systems. Monitor project progress and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain and update documentation for all electrical systems and components. Assist on preparing validation tests and/or reviewing the results of the validation testing. Support OPEX Review - Assembling OPEX and assessing what changes should be incorporated in the future designs of Tooling and Equipment. Report and suggest resolution to any potential impacts to technical quality identified by the various tool manufactures and vendors. Ensure all work activities are performed safely, in collaboration with the Project Safety Manager.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree (Electrical, Control, Software) from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design and implementation.
  • Experience with control systems, and automation.
  • Siemens PLC programming experience – Step 7, S7-SCL, S7-GRAPH, S7-Starter, SIMATIC NET, WinCC Flexible and S7 Distributed Safety.
  • Siemens SCADA programming experience – WinCC Classic.
  • TIA portal and good understanding of I-Device communication and Motion Control (VFDs and Servos).
  • Siemens PROFIBUS and PROFINET.
  • PELCO experience (Endura Certified System Technician an asset).
  • Engineering drawings interpretation.
  • Engineering Change Control knowledge.
  • Analytical ability and effective decision making.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario would be preferred
