About The Position

ASI is hiring a Senior Controls Engineer in Lake City, MN. This role offers the opportunity to own a project from its initial concept to a fully operational machine. The position can be hybrid, remote, or offer relocation support for the right candidate. The engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, testing, and debugging PLC and HMI control systems, leading field startups and commissioning, and producing electrical designs and schematics. The role also involves direct customer interaction, including training operators and representing ASI on-site.

Requirements

5+ years designing and commissioning industrial control systems.
2-year degree in Mechatronics, EET, or Electronics (a 4-year EE degree), or equivalent experience.
Strong PLC programming across Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, and RSLogix 500.
FactoryTalk View ME/SE HMI development.
Hands-on VFD and servo/motion experience.
AutoCAD Electrical proficiency.
Working knowledge of UL 508A panel standards.
Willing to travel and work startup hours.
Professional composure with customers, even when a project gets tense.

Prior sales, bidding, or estimating experience.
Established relationships in industrial automation.

Responsibilities

Design, program, test, and debug PLC and HMI control systems.
Independently lead field startup and commissioning under pressure.
Own projects end to end: design, panel layout, programming, testing, startup, and handoff.
Program and tune VFDs and servo/motion systems on multi-axis machinery.
Produce electrical design and schematics in AutoCAD Electrical.
Work directly with customers in the field, training operators and representing ASI on-site.
