About The Position

The Senior Controls Engineer provides team leadership in delivering automation systems for a wide variety of industries. The role requires technical proficiency implementing automation solutions using PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms. The engineer interacts directly with customers and leads engineers in identifying requirements, developing specifications, and implementing, testing, commissioning, and qualifying automation solutions. This is a leadership role within the business unit that calls for strong problem-solving and people skills, an aptitude for business efficiency, and an interest in building customer partnerships. Success includes securing repeat work from new and existing customers. The position delivers automation solutions and design standards, either independently or as a team leader. Work includes conceptualizing, detailing, and implementing control systems for industrial processes and machinery; developing system architectures; selecting components; creating schematics and system documentation; programming controllers and process visualization systems; developing historical-data databases; and implementing and commissioning systems at client facilities. The engineer also designs and implements fiber, wired, and wireless systems using industrial protocols. Project duties include developing execution plans, work breakdown structures and budgets; prioritizing and scheduling tasks; tracking time and finances; identifying problems early; managing conflicts; leading and supporting teams; and attending status meetings. The role oversees project operations for projects up to $1 million and may be responsible for project profitability. It serves as a technical lead, guides junior engineers and technicians, and may manage smaller projects. Additional duties include developing processes to automate template and instance development within System Platform and providing technical leadership on graphics, alarming, and scale-up design standards.
