About The Position

This role is for a Senior Controls Engineer who will work independently and potentially take on a team lead/mentoring role. The engineer will be a specialist in complex technical and business matters, managing the design, installation, optimization, and enhancement of electronic control systems and instruments for industrial process automation and monitoring. Responsibilities include developing technical designs, process diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, and control schematics, as well as configuring systems using PLC and HMI techniques. The role involves modeling, testing, and analyzing data to improve performance and quality, overseeing project resources for system start-ups, maintenance, and upgrades, and ensuring proper documentation of instrument data sheets, wiring designs, drawings, and plans. Additionally, the Senior Controls Engineer will oversee and schedule PLC technician assignments and handle HR responsibilities such as time card approvals, performance reviews, and expense approvals.

Requirements

  • Expert-level working knowledge of PLC Programming (Allen Bradley, RSLogix 5000)
  • Strong experience with design, inter-connection and configuration of PLCs systems
  • Strong working experience and understanding of Electrical Design and Engineering
  • Demonstratable experience providing guidance/mentorship to other team members is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree and/or technical school certification received with industry experience is preferred OR Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years’ controls engineering experience; material handling or manufacturing experienced preferred.
  • Strong experience working with Conveyor and Robotic Systems within material handling or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong HMI Development experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the design, installation, optimization, and enhancement of electronic control systems and instruments to automate and monitor industrial processes.

  • Configures systems using PLC and HMI techniques.
  • Models, tests, and measures output and data to analyze performance or quality issues and develop solutions.
  • Oversees and coordinates project resources for system start-ups, maintenance and upgrades.
  • Ensures that instrument data sheets, wiring designs, drawings, and plans are documented.
  • Oversees and schedules PLC technician assignments.
  • Responsible for HR responsibilities such as; time card approvals, performance reviews, and expense approvals.
