Do we have your attention? Keep reading. Weiler Labeling Systems is looking for a Senior Controls Engineer to design, program, and optimize automation solutions for our high‑speed labeling machines. This role is hands‑on, collaborative, and critical to delivering reliable, cutting‑edge equipment to our customers. Requirements

  • BS in Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent
  • 7+ years in controls engineering with a focus on motion control and high‑speed automated machinery
  • Proven experience in multi‑axis motion control programming
  • Skilled in structured text programming
  • Hands‑on experience with B&R Automation Studio (required)
  • HMI programming experience (required), ideally with B&R mappView and Allen Bradley FactoryTalk SE/ME
  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills for complex automation issues
  • Results‑driven with high standards
  • Organized, able to set priorities and track progress
  • Team‑oriented, collaborative, and willing to share knowledge
  • Strong communicator—professional in listening, speaking, and writing
  • Analytical problem solver with a structured approach to identifying causes and generating solutions

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley CompactLogix and ControlLogix PLCs (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of communication protocols: OPC‑UA, Powerlink, Ethernet/IP
  • SQL database experience (plus)
  • SCADA / MES experience (plus)

Responsibilities

  • Develop & implement PLC and multi‑axis motion control programs for advanced labeling systems
  • Create clear documentation to support assembly, testing, debugging, and long‑term servicing of equipment
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with automation, electrical, and mechanical engineers, as well as sales teams and customers, to fully define project scope and requirements
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware and software components that best fit each project’s needs
  • Troubleshoot & optimize complex automation systems to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability
