About The Position

Support execution teams when developing requirements for the automation controls and safety control system for new equipment and processes. Provide controls applications support with a focus on Body shop. Determine the applicable standards and interpret the standards to provide direction to projects or programs related to Safety requirements. Evaluate new safety products. Apply general principles of design safety related parts of a control system, principles of Risk Assessment, safety performance levels and control categories. Support R&D and IT teams in development of custom GM applications related to safety. Support contract service providers in Safety Contract Management and prequalification requirements. Apply collaborative robot safety requirements. Aid in technical development of GM suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of study
  • Five (5) years of experience as an Electric Vehicle Occupational Safety for Man and Non-Man Sites, Paint Shop Controls/Maintenance/Process Coordinator, Paint Shop Process Engineer, Controls Lead, or related occupation.
  • Five (5) years of experience with Safety requirements industry standards, including ANSI, ISO, and CSA
  • Five (5) years of experience with Safety requirements for robotic cells, conveyors, and operator stations
  • Five (5) years of experience with Design in Safety Process including g-Comply, g-Risk, and g-Placard processes and e-tools
  • Five (5) years of experience Designing and building of machine meeting Pld and Category 4 architecture using programmable safety devices and safety relays
  • Five (5) years of experience Validating safety circuits with an understanding of potential failure modes
  • Five (5) years of experience with PLC, HMI programming, EPLAN, Ethernet, and Devicenet networks
  • Five (5) years of experience with Global Design for Health and Safety standard.
