About The Position

This position is responsible for all issues related to product cost and supervising accounting personnel at the plant/complex level. This person will also work closely with the Division VP of Operations and sales team. Other duties include closing the monthly books for the Division, supervising the closing of the monthly books at the plant/complex, attending quarterly production management meetings, assisting in the preparation of the monthly financial reviews. This position also oversees the financials for capital projects; ensuring that projects are properly documented and that project approvals are met in accordance with company policy. Other duties include staffing, supervising, and developing salary employees and ensuring generally accepted accounting principles are adhered to as well as Tyson accounting policies which may involve in-house auditing of books and inventories. The primary function of this role is to lead the accounting staff to maintain financial control of the assets entrusted to them and to be a business partner to the operations team and other support functions to provide financial insight that leads toward improved business practices.

Requirements

  • Requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field normally acquired through a bachelor’s degree in an academic field directly related and essential to the job.
  • Accounting or Finance degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience with protein manufacturing, cost accounting, or supporting complex production environments.
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Excel and intermediate skills in other Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Growout Information System experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 6 to 12 domestic trips per year.
  • Responsible use of approved AI tools, including safeguarding sensitive information, adhering to company policies, and validating AI-generated outputs.
  • Integrate AI into daily work, improve efficiency through AI-enabled solutions, evaluate outputs critically, and apply professional judgment when using AI.
  • Drive responsible AI adoption, enable effective use of approved solutions, identify opportunities to improve team performance through AI, and ensure accountability for the quality and accuracy of AI-supported outcomes.
