Senior Controller

RDILos Angeles, CA
Onsite

About The Position

RDI Trials is an IVD-focused contract research organization that has been running diagnostic trials since 2008. They are looking for a Senior Controller to own the finance function end-to-end. This is a fast-paced environment where individuals are expected to take ownership and make decisions without a playbook. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in their field but be willing to step outside of it, communicate clearly, and have a desire to build rather than maintain.

Requirements

  • Five to eight years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience with project-based services revenue recognition, specifically running ETC/EAC against contract value in a clinical research, CDMO, consulting, construction, or similar services environment.
  • Ability to think for themselves and make decisions without a playbook.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and situations that are not perfectly defined.
  • Understanding of work at a deeper level, not just surface.
  • Clear and direct communication skills.
  • Strong foundation in accounting but willing to step outside of it.
  • Ambition and readiness to own a full function rather than a slice of one.
  • Willingness to treat the company as their own and act accordingly.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Experience directing an outsourced accounting partner or a small in-house team.
  • Someone a little underleveraged in their current seat.
  • Not a long-tenured Controller winding down.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly close process.
  • Prepare GAAP financial statements.
  • Manage ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Oversee the billing tracker.
  • Handle lender reporting.
  • Manage the forward forecast model.
  • Oversee the outsourced accounting team for day-to-day financials, AP, and AR.
  • Direct the outsourced accounting partner, holding them to a standard and deciding on future outsourcing vs. in-house operations.
  • Own monthly borrowing-base reporting and covenant compliance with the lender.
  • Manage the forecast model shared with the board.
  • Work closely with the CEO on financial decisions including capital, hiring, pricing, and study economics.
  • Operate as a technology-forward finance function.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business operations outside of finance, such as process, systems, vendor relationships, and operating reporting.

Benefits

  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
