About The Position

Rolls-Royce is looking for a Senior Control System Verification Engineer to join their growing team. This role involves working on flagship Rolls-Royce programs and solving complex technological challenges within a global, multi-disciplinary team. The Senior Control System Verification Engineer will lead a team of verification engineers through all aspects of the verification portion of the system engineering lifecycle and deliver control system verification evidence to airworthiness authorities. Responsibilities include developing and implementing verification strategies and plans, leading a team to create and execute verification cases and procedures, providing technical guidance, and collaborating with a global engineering community to share best practices. The role offers opportunities for travel up to 20% between Rolls-Royce sites and up to 10% other travel.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering with 2+ years of product development engineering experience, OR Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering, OR PhD in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering.
U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Nice To Haves

5+ years of system verification experience.
Experience with requirements and configuration management.
Application of agile development methods to deliver verification work products.
Experience with military qualification and/or FAA certification of airborne systems.
Gas turbine engine, propulsion, or electrical control system experience.
Demonstrated experience with control system design and analysis tools.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams in development, integration, validation, and/or verification of systems.

Responsibilities

Leading a team of verification engineers through all aspects of the verification portion of the system engineering lifecycle.
Delivering control system verification evidence to airworthiness authorities.
Developing and implementing verification strategies and plans.
Leading a team to create and execute verification cases and procedures.
Providing technical guidance, counsel, and direction to ensure verification deliverables meet appropriate standards and quality.
Collaborating with a global engineering community to share best practice and lessons learned on process, tools, and technical solutions.
Collaborating with other teams and customers to develop control system verification work products for safety critical applications as per ARP4754A and appropriate guidance within DO-178C.
Coordinating with software and hardware verification teams to ensure seamless integration of verification artifacts at the systems level.
Collaborating with customers during process and development assurance audits.
Providing and supporting engineering process guidance and training material to improve effectiveness of the verification team.
Establishing a sense of pride and urgency within the verification team.
Preparing and reviewing engineering work products for technical documentation, quality, completeness.
Collaborating with subject matter experts and project managers, on project planning, execution, bid estimations, and project performance.
Identifying verification and validation technical and schedule risks within a project.
