About The Position

The Senior Contracts Manager, Strategic Contracts within Procurement manages medium scale contracting projects received throughout the organization; and provides expertise and strategic and tactical direction in the development, negotiation, management and administration of complex supplier contract negotiations. This role involves identifying, assessing, and resolving complex contracting issues, developing creative solutions to protect Fidelity and mitigate risk, and interacting directly with external-facing vendors. The position requires attending and representing the contracts point of view at stakeholder meetings, interacting throughout the enterprise to gain consensus, input, and approvals, and ensuring accurate reporting and analytics for assigned projects. The Senior Contracts Manager will also participate in initiatives to improve the operational and risk imperatives of the department and team, provide business leaders with contract analysis and a point-of-view for decision support, and work with suppliers and business personnel to identify, research, and resolve purchasing-related issues. Additionally, this role involves providing recommendations, modifications, and process improvement opportunities, offering guidance to senior leadership and colleagues as a subject matter expert, and leveraging experience to provide thought leadership throughout the contracting lifecycle. The team is responsible for the contractual framework and contracting process for most strategic, procurement-related transactions across the firm, managing medium to large contracting projects, maintaining a book of active work, and facilitating communications. The Senior Contracts Manager will lead the process of analyzing contract issues to identify and mitigate risks and optimize value, working independently on both standard and non-standard contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; JD preferred
  • 3-5 years of substantive transactional contract negotiation experience required
  • Ability to handle complex negotiations for Fidelity's strategic vendor relationships with moderate supervision.
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal and diplomacy skills, including ability to simplify complicated issues and build consensus among competing interests.
  • Strong strategic, tactical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills, which you will readily use to simplify sophisticated contract and business issues for straightforward, practical analysis and resolution.
  • Proven confidence, presence, initiative and influencing skills.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple, large-scale projects at various stages.
  • Proactive management of multiple Supplier relationships and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of business terms and conditions.
  • Proven commitment to drive quality and process improvements.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Consistent ability to problem solve and work autonomously.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expertise and strategic and tactical direction in the development, negotiation, management and administration of complex supplier contract negotiations.
  • Identifies, assesses, and resolves complex contracting issues and develops creative solutions that protect Fidelity and mitigate risk, directly with Fidelity’s external-facing vendors.

  • Works with suppliers and business personnel to identify, research and resolve purchasing related issues, develop corrective action programs, and monitor progress and identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
  • Provides the organization with recommendations, modifications, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Provides guidance to senior leadership and colleagues as a subject matter expert.
  • Leverages experience and knowledge to provide thought leadership with business partners throughout the contracting lifecycle.
  • Responds to shifting priorities while maintaining progress of regularly scheduled work.
  • Manages the process for medium to large contracting projects, including participating in assessment and strategy meetings.
  • Maintains a book of active work, and facilitates communications received from Strategic Contracts and its legal, risk, and other business partners.
  • Leads the process of analyzing contract issues aimed to identify and mitigate risks and optimize value to Fidelity.
  • Works independently on both standard and non-standard contracts.
