About The Position

Far West Federal is seeking a seasoned Senior Contract Specialist to serve as a working lead on its high-impact closeout support team. This role combines direct contract closeout responsibilities with team leadership of junior contract specialists. The ideal candidate thrives in a hands-on environment, excels at juggling independent work with mentorship, and brings deep familiarity with federal acquisition processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; Education may be substituted with relevant professional experience
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role
  • Deep understanding of FAR, HHSAR, federal procurement systems and federal records management requirements
  • Familiarity with common federal contract types
  • Strong organizational, time management, customer services, and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting contract closeout or post-award administration in a government or contracting environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust, Level V, Tier 2 clearance

Responsibilities

  • Review contract files for accuracy and compliance with FAR, HHSAR, and agency guidelines.
  • Evaluate contract files for closeout readiness and take appropriate actions to resolve any outstanding contractual or financial obligations, including processing priority deobligations.
  • Prepare and submit required documentation, including modifications, forms, checklists, and completion statements.
  • Validate final and true-up invoices, applying indirect or final rates and using quick closeout procedures when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with federal Contracting Officers, financial staff, auditors, Program Offices, and vendors to resolve outstanding issues, reconcile costs, recover excess funds, and/or finalize closeouts.
  • Maintain contract systems and file repositories in accordance with federal records management requirements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely updates.
  • Monitor progress and report milestones, metrics, and ROI contributions to the Program Manager.
  • Support legal research and documentation preparation.
  • Support FOIA requests and data calls as required.
  • Complete government and company role-based training as required.
  • Represent Far West Federal professionally in all interactions with the government, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  • Lead a team of junior Contract Specialists, overseeing task execution, quality assurance, and timely delivery.
  • Provide coaching, quality review, and mentorship to support team development and performance.
  • Assign work, track team progress, and escalate challenges or delays to the Program Manager as needed.
  • Represent the team in meetings, briefings, and status reviews with the Program Manager.
  • Support the creation and enhancement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and training resources.
