About The Position

Responsible for consulting and providing guidance regarding transfusion services technical and regulatory issues for laboratories in designated territory. The Senior Consulting Technologist will work with enterprise laboratory committees in addition to established client list to achieve standardized process improvement initiatives. Assists laboratory leadership to prepare for inspections related to accreditation with the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), COLA, AABB, Joint Commission and others as applicable. Must have a thorough knowledge of general laboratory operations, health care operations, and management principles. Must also develop relationships in order to build and maintain the client base. Demonstrates patience, kindness, and cooperation with clients and co-workers. May be asked to travel to any laboratory site depending on the needs of the facility and at the discretion of the leadership. This position may require acting as a CLIA role of Qualified Laboratory Director, Technical Supervisor and Technical Consultant as needed. Must also qualify to perform duties delegated by the CLIA Laboratory Director. This position is based in Marshfield, WI and will support laboratories within the Sanford Health- Marshfield Region. This individual will be accountable to methods and instrument performance, quality control and result reporting, problem resolution, new method and instrument evaluation, research, development, planning and implementation, quality control statistics, technical studies, technical education of staff, and other duties as assigned under the Transfusion Services discipline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science is required.
  • Three years of laboratory leadership or consulting technologist experience required.
  • Must be registered by the American Society of Laboratory Science as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
  • If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialist certification through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), SBB – Specialist in Blood Banking
  • Five years’ laboratory experience in a hospital or clinic laboratory.
